Vol. 198 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Traffic Report.

32.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will say in respect of the German traffic consultants' investigations into Dublin's traffic (a) the date thereof, (b) the cost thereof, (c) the State's contribution thereto, (d) the reason for the delay in the receipt of the report and recommendations, and (e) whether at the time the contract was made any period for the furnishing of a report and recommendations was made, and, if so, the period provided.

The Dublin traffic survey was carried out in April, 1961. The estimated cost of the complete survey, including the work done by Dublin Corporation, is £20,000 and is chargeable in full to Road Fund grants allocated to the Corporation from time to time. It was provisionally estimated by the consultant that his comprehensive report would be completed within 16 months of the receipt by him of the material assembled by the Corporation from the traffic survey. This information was sent to the consultant's office in April, 1962; due to the volume of material which had to be processed, it could not be sent sooner.
