Vol. 198 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Garda Housing.

103.

asked the Minister for Justice the number of houses for Gardaí which were built in each of the years 1960 and 1961 and up to the present in 1962.

No houses for Gardaí were built in the year 1960, four houses were built in 1961 and three houses were built in the present year to date.

I may add that the Commissioners of Public Works have the building of 23 houses in hands at present, in conjunction with the erection of new stations, and the National Building Agency has 78 houses under contract at the moment, of which they expect that about 50 will be completed within the next 4 months and by then, also, they expect to have placed contracts for a total of 200 houses.
