Vol. 198 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Motor Assembly Employment.

7.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Taoiseach the total number of persons of all ages at present engaged in the motor assembly industry.

It is estimated that in mid-September, 1962, the number of persons engaged in establishments included in the industry "assembly, construction and repair of mechanically propelled road and land vehicles" was 5,500. Separate particulars of those engaged in assembly work only are not collected regularly but on the basis of a fairly recent ad hoc inquiry it is estimated that about one half of the total quoted were so engaged.
