Vol. 198 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Intermediate Certificate Examination.

38.

asked the Minister for Education whether he has available any statistics as to the number of pupils who take the intermediate certificate examination twice; and, if so, if he will give the number of candidates who took the examination for the second time in each of the years 1957 to 1962, inclusive.

Candidates at the intermediate certificate examination are not required to state whether they have previously entered for that examination.

Since the number of intermediate candidates each year is approximately 17,000, the information requested would not warrant the enormous expenditure of time and labour that would be involved in arriving at it.
