Vol. 198 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Dockyard Workers.

38.

andMr. McQuillan asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether it is a fact that a number of workers have been laid off at Verolme Ship Yard, Cork; and that more men are to be laid off after Christmas; if so, how many; if he will state the reasons for the lay off; and what proposals there are in respect of the men concerned.

I have seen press reports regarding the laying off of a number of workers by Verolme Cork Dockyard Ltd. I do not consider it appropriate that the company should be asked for information for publication by me about its day-to-day affairs.
