Vol. 199 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Expenditure on Dental and Ophthalmic Services.

12.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state in respect of the estimated net health expenditure by health authorities in 1960-61 and in 1961-62 the amount spent or to be spent on (a) dental services and (b) ophthalmic services.

The expenditure on dental services in the years 1960-61 and 1961-62 was £130,000 and £145,000, respectively. The expenditure on ophthalmic and aural services was £50,000 in both years.

The costs of the ophthalmic and aural services are not recorded separately in my Department. The cost of the ophthalmic services, however, forms much the greater part of the expenditure which I have mentioned.
