Vol. 199 No. 9

Business of Dáil.

Having regard to the progress of business and the legislation available for discussion next week, I take this opportunity to ask the Dáil for leave not to sit on Tuesday next. I propose to adjourn the House then until Wednesday.

Could the Taoiseach at this stage give us any indication as to what the business will be on Wednesday?

The Coast Protection Bill, the Copyright Bill and the Committee Stage of the National Gallery Bill. The Electoral Bill may be circulated. It is a very big Bill. It is being printed, but the checking of the proofs may delay its circulation.

When are we likely to see No 14, the Superannuation and Pensions Bill? It has been on the Order Paper for some time.

It will be circulated in about a week, I hope.

When will they be paid?

As soon as the Deputy likes after that.

It does not deal with increases; it deals with the structure of the scheme.

I understand that the National Gallery Bill, the Copyright Bill and the Coast Protection Bill are being taken on Wednesday. The Coast Protection Bill has just been circulated.

It was circulated to-day. It will be taken on Wednesday.

It is a very short time.

That crack about time comes well from that side of the House. It was Deputy Sweetman who proposed we should get as far forward as possible with legislation before the Financial Business begins. The Coast Protection Bill will be very largely a Committee Stage Bill.

Why is it no explanatory memorandum has been circulated with the Coast Protection Bill?

The Dáil adjourned at 3.5 p. m. until 3 p. m. on Wednesday, 13th February, 1963.
