asked the Minister for Finance the tax element in the price of (a) twenty cigarettes, (b) a gallon of petrol, (c) a bottle of stout, (d) a pint of beer, and (e) a glass of whiskey.

The following are the particulars required:—

Duty Content

(a) 20 standard size cigarettes

2s. 6d., approx.

(b) A gallon of petrol

2s. 9¼d.

(c) A half-pint bottle of beer (including stout) of average gravity

3¾d., approx.

(d) A pint of beer (including stout) of average gravity

7½d., approx.

(e) A glass of whiskey (at 30º u.p.)

2s. 1d., approx.
