Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wicklow Rent Collectors

34.

asked the Minister for Local Government if a proposed salary scale for rural rent collectors employed by the Wicklow County Council was submitted to his Department in or about March 1962; if so, if he will explain why the proposal has not yet been sanctioned or rejected, despite a delay of about twelve months; and if he will now expedite consideration of the proposal so that a decision may be given without further delay.

The proposals of the Wicklow County Council for a revision of the remuneration of rent collectors were related to the eighth round increase in wages and salaries generally but did not conform to the increases awarded to rent collectors on foot of the eighth round in other local authorities. The proposals required special examination for that reason. There will be no avoidable delay in bringing the matter to finality.

35.

asked the Minister for Local Government if a revised bonus scheme in respect of a number of rate collectors in County Wicklow was received by his Department in or about October, 1962; and when a decision on the scheme may be expected.

A revised bonus scheme was submitted for sanction by Wicklow County Council and is under consideration in conjunction with related proposals from a number of other county councils. A decision in the matter will be given as soon as possible.
