Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - West Donegal Forestry Lands.

57.

asked the Minister for Lands the number of acres of land inspected for afforestation purposes in the Rosses district of West Donegal, and the number of acres which are suitable for planting by the Forestry Section of his Department.

During the past year the Forestry Division of my Department has acquired one area of 1,503 acres in the Rosses district of West Donegal and is seeking to purchase three further areas totalling 77 acres which have been found suitable for forestry purposes. Two areas totalling 1,353 acres were rejected as unsuitable for afforestation. No decision has been made on two areas totalling 150 acres which are at the preliminary stages of investigation.
