Vol. 201 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions Oral Answers. - Illegal Fishing by Foreign Vessels.

63.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will take steps to prevent the widespread illegal fishing at present being carried out along the North Mayo coast by foreign fishing vessels.

The Deputy appears to be out of the House. He did not rise for his question.

Is there objection?

Yes. Let Fianna Fáil help him out.

I asked the question for the Deputy.

My Department is not aware of widespread illegal fishing by foreign trawlers off the north coast of County Mayo nor has any illegal fishing been observed in the course of normal periodic patrols of the area by An tSeirbhís Chabhlaigh.

Question No. 64 postponed.
