Vol. 201 No. 7

Written Answers. - Allotment of County Tipperary Lands.

43.

asked the Minister for Lands why Denis Cahill, Coolnagower, Cloughjordan, County Tipperary did not receive a parcel of land in the Whitfield Estate, Modreeney, County Tipperary; if he was recommended for an allotment; and if he is aware that land was allotted to applicants who were outside the one mile limit.

An application on behalf of Mr. Cahill, for an allotment on the Whitfield Estate, was carefully considered by the Land Commissioners, who have exclusive jurisdiction in such matters. I am informed that it was found impracticable to provide an allotment for him, having regard to the limited acreage available (90 statute acres) and the claims of the other competing applicants.

As far as practicable, enlargements are located within a mile from the lands being divided but the distance factor is subject to some flexibility. In the present case, three of the approved allottees were up to a mile and a half from the lands.
