Vol. 201 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Taxation.

21.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the widespread uneasiness at the steep increase in the level of local taxation; and, if so, whether he will take steps to bring about a reform of the present rating system with a view to ensuring that the demand made be related to the individual's capacity to pay.

As I have indicated recently in answer to questions bearing on the same subject, various investigations are at present being made into the existing system of local taxation and all suggestions for its alteration will be considered in the course of these investigations.
