asked the Minister for Lands if he will state in respect of civil servants employed in each grade in the Forestry Division of his Department (a) the total number, (b) the number who possess professional qualifications in forestry, and (c) the number who have practical experience of forestry work (i) in Ireland and (ii) abroad.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Qualifications of Civil Servants.
18.
The grade-groups in the Forestry Division for which qualifications in forestry are requisite are the Forestry Inspectorate and Forester Grades. All serving personnel in these two groups of grades possess the professional qualifications and experience in forestry necessary to qualify for appointment to such posts. The numbers at present serving in the various grades are:
Inspector General |
2 |
Senior Inspector |
1 |
Forestry Inspector Grade I |
11 |
Forestry Inspector Grade II |
30 |
Forestry Inspector Grade III |
43 |
Senior Forester |
23 |
Forester Grade I |
60 |
Forester Grade II |
222 |
In all cases experience includes experience of forestry work in Ireland. Many officers have some experience of forestry work abroad but in few cases is that experience extensive.
