Vol. 202 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin-Naas Dual Carriageway.

17.

asked the Minister for Local Government at what date it is anticipated that the various portions of the new dual carriageway between Dublin and Naas, County Kildare, will be opened for traffic.

Work is nearing completion on a 3½ mile section of the second leg of the proposed dual carriageway between Dublin and Naas and I understand that Kildare County Council expect this section will be opened to traffic around mid-June. The extension of the Kildare stretch of the dual carriageway to the Dublin county boundary is expected to take about two years. In Dublin County preliminary works such as fencing and drainage have been in progress on the road since 1961 and work has now started by contract on the construction of the first section of dual carriageway between Brownsbarn and Millbridge Lane. Planning on other sections has reached an advanced stage, but it is not possible to say at present when the work will be completed.

I could not quite catch the name of the place after Brownsbarn ?

Millbridge Lane.

Can the Minister tell me where it is ?

I am afraid I cannot help the Deputy.
