Vol. 202 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Increase in Fixed Capital Assets.

1.

asked the Taoiseach if he will give particulars of the value of the increase in fixed capital assets for each of the years 1961 and 1962 in the form of Table 1 of the Census of Industrial Production, issued as a supplement to the Irish Trade Journal December 1962, giving estimates if exact returns are not available.

The aggregate particulars requested by the Deputy are not yet available even in the form of estimates. For a certain number of individual industries data are available in respect of 1961. The total increase in fixed capital assets in 1961 for these industries was £12.7 million. In 1960 the increase in fixed capital assets in the same set of industries accounted for £10.3 million out of the total of £23.6 million for all industries and services. Because of the high degree of variability from year to year in the figures for individual industries it is possible that the trend shown by these figures may differ substantially from that for all industries.

Would the Parliamentary Secretary not give me the figure for each individual industry?

They are not all available.

Those that are available.

I have given the Deputy the bulk figure for those available.

That is not in the form of Table 1. Table 1 includes the individual industries. I should like to see the figures available for individual industries.

They will all be available in September.

Perhaps the Parliamentary Secretary will not be in a position to give them after September.

I hope to be alive.

We hope so, too, and that he will be on these benches.
