Vol. 202 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Pay of Social Welfare Agents.

12.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare whether any decision has as yet been come to on the application of the local agents of his Department for an increase in pay; and, if not, when he expects to come to a decision on the matter.

Claims for pay increases on behalf of local agents of my Department fall to be dealt with under the Scheme of Conciliation and Arbitration for the Civil Service. A claim for an increase in pay for unestablished Local Agents was discussed at meetings of the Departmental Council of my Department on 5th October, 1962, and 29th November, 1962, and disagreement on the claim was recorded at the latter meeting.

Has the Minister any hope of having any further talks?

No, the next move is with the Staff Side.

Question No. 13 postponed.
