Vol. 203 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sales of Beer, Wines and Spirits.

32.

asked the Minister for Finance what proportion of the total turnover in the financial year 1962-63 in the sales of beer, wines and spirits was received by the Exchequer.

In the year 1962-63 the exchequer received approximately £20 million from the duties on beer, wines and spirits. I cannot say what proportion this represented of the total turnover from sales of these commodities. The Deputy might, however, wish to refer to the figures for personal expenditure on beer, spirits and wine, including cider etc., in the year 1962, given in reply to a question by Deputy Jones on 4th April last—Vol. 201 No. 8, Column 1128.
