Vol. 203 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Surtax and Supertax Yields.

34.

asked the Minister for Finance the estimated yield in surtax and supertax in the current financial year, and the estimated yield in the current year if the deductions made since the year 1957-58 had not been made.

It is estimated that the net receipt of surtax in the current year will be approximately £2,150,000. As regards the second part of the Deputy's question. I presume that he has in mind the surtax reliefs granted by the 1959 and 1961 Budgets. It was estimated that, for a full year, the cost of these reliefs would be about £630,000.

Are surtax and supertax the same thing?
