asked the Minister for Finance the total estimated yield in the current financial year of the reimposition of the tax which operated in the year 1957-58 on (a) dance halls and (b) cinemas.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dance Hall and Cinema Tax.
35.
In the year 1957-58 the net receipts from the entertainments duty came to slightly more than £1.5 million. Of this total roughly £1.3 million came from cinema shows and most of the remainder came from dances. The yield of the duty was related to the prices charged for admission to entertainments and the numbers of persons admitted. Since I have no up-to-date information on these matters, I am unable to furnish the estimate requested by the Deputy.
