Vol. 203 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Local Authority Housing Subsidies.

44.

asked the Minister for Local Government the subsidisable limits of capital cost of local authority housing as at present in operation; and whether he contemplates any further review of them this year.

The subsidisable limits of capital cost of local authority dwellings were reviewed last year and increased by 10 per cent with retrospective effect as from 1st April, 1961. The present limits are:

1. Schemes for the provision of flats under the Housing of the Working Classes Acts—£2,000 per flat.

2. Schemes for the provision of houses under the Housing of the Working Classes Acts and of fully serviced cottages under the Labourers Acts— £1,650 per house.

3. Schemes for the provision of unserviced cottages—£1,100 per house.

No further review of these limits is at present contemplated.
