Vol. 203 No. 8

Written Answers. - Dublin Housing Proposals.

117.

asked the Minister for Local Government (a) what steps have been taken to build new housing accommodation on the demolished sites in the Dominick Street-Bolton Street-Dorset Street-Wellington Street areas of Dublin North-Central constituency; (b) when work will commence on these sites; and (c) if he will state generally the position in regard to local authority housing in that area.

Plans for the erection of 195 further flat dwellings on cleared sites in this area have been generally approved and I understand that working drawings are in course of preparation. I am not in a position to say when work will commence on the erection of the dwellings. 298 flat dwellings have already been provided in Dominick Street and Hardwicke Street. I understand that the development of a number of other sites in the area is contemplated.
