Vol. 203 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Offaly River Pollution.

28.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is aware that the Roscrea sewerage scheme is alleged to be responsible for the poisoning of fish, because of pollution of the Little Brosna River near Birr, County Offaly; if he will take action to see that this does not recur; and whether he has been in touch with the North Tipperary County Council in the matter, and with what results.

I am aware that there has been some mortality of fish in the Little Brosna River and that the present sewerage scheme for Roscrea is regarded as inadequate. The matter has been raised by the Limerick Board of Conservators with the North Tipperary County Council who have, I understand, accepted a tender for the installation of a new sewerage system.
