Vol. 203 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Dispensary Districts.

9.

Mr. Donnellan

asked the Minister for Health (a) the number of patients treated in each dispensary in County Galway, (b) the number vaccinated for (i) poliomyelitis and (ii) TB, and (c) the total for the whole county in the case of (a) and (b).

Figures as to the number of patients treated in each dispensary in County Galway are not available.

In County Galway, polio vaccinations are given by the county medical officer and his staff and are not a dispensary district service. The total number of injections under the scheme given in the county in the year 1962 was 8,174.

BCG vaccinations are given in Galway by the staff of the National BCG Committee and are not a dispensary district service. The total number of "acts" (i.e. pre-tests, BCG vaccinations, post-tests, and follow-up tests) given in the county was 25,205, in 1962.
