Vol. 204 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Assistance Qualifications.

12.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will raise the valuation of those who are getting dole from £4 to £5 so that they may qualify for an allowance during the summer.

The Unemployment Assistance (Employment Period) Order, 1963, has the effect of excluding from the receipt of unemployment assistance, during the period from the 13th March to the 5th November, 1963, persons resident in non-municipal towns and rural areas who are occupiers of land the ratable valuation of which exceeds £4. The provisions of the order were carefully considered before it was made on 4th March last and I am not prepared to alter them.
