Vol. 204 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Butter Export Quota.

10.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if, in view of the low stocks of butter in Britain, he is actively pursuing the question of the removal of or the permanent extension of the quota.

I cannot usefully add anything to my reply to the Deputy's question on this subject on 26th June.

Would the Minister say what is the export price of butter at present?

I cannot say. It is not part of the question.

Surely a Minister for Agriculture in Ireland should have that knowledge at hand without reference to his advisers.

The market price of butter has been changing very rapidly from day to day and from week to week.

Could the Minister state what price he agreed to with the British?

I agreed to no price except the market price.

Is he going to sell it for nothing?

The market price.
