asked the Minister for Education why the training colleges do not confer a degree on teachers who have completed their courses and successfully passed their final examination, as is the case in most other countries.

The award of a degree is in all cases a matter for the university authorities concerned as is the extent to which they are prepared to recognise for that purpose a course followed in a training college for teachers.
