Vol. 205 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South Dublin Road Junction.

53.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the traffic dangers which exist at the road junction at Walkinstown Cross, Dublin; that repeated representations have been made to Dublin County Council to have a roundabout constructed there for the regulation of traffic and the protection of children and others; and that no steps have yet been taken to remedy this grievance; and whether he will direct that this urgent matter be attended to without any further delay.

As indicated in my reply of 28th March, 1962, to a question on this subject, a scheme prepared by the Dublin County Council for the construction of a roundabout at Walkinstown was approved by my Department in 1958, subject to the acquisition of the necessary property. Although compulsory acquisition was subsequently authorised, I understand that certain title difficulties, which the road authority are endeavouring to overcome, have delayed the commencement of the work.
