Vol. 205 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Recognition of Teaching Service Outside State.

113.

asked the Minister for Education if he is yet in a position to recognise for purposes of incremental salary suitable teaching experience in the Six-Counties or Britain; and, if so, on what terms.

As stated in my reply of 18 July, 1963, to a question from another Deputy, incremental credit up to a maximum of five increments will be allowed for approved teaching service given in the Six Counties by primary, secondary and vocational teachers in or after the school-year 1962-63.

This provision is being confined to service given in the Six Counties.

114.

asked the Minister for Education the number of persons whose applications for recognition for incremental salary purposes of teaching service in underdeveloped countries has been (a) accepted and (b) rejected.

Since the introduction in 1961 of the scheme to accord incremental credit for teaching service given in the underdeveloped countries of Africa, 173 applications for credit have been approved and 11 rejected.
