Vol. 205 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Bourn Vincent Estate.

3.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, in view of the failure of his Department to agree on a reasonable wage rate for employees of the Office of Public Works on the Bourn Vincent Memorial Estate, Killarney, County Kerry, he will agree that a claim for improved wages for these workers be submitted to the jurisdiction of the Labour Court to which these workers have not at present access.

These, being State employees, do not come within the scope of the Industrial Relations Act, 1946. Accordingly, claims by them cannot be determined by the Labour Court set up under that Act.

4.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, in view of the transfer of the Bourn Vincent Memorial Estate, Killarney, County Kerry to new management, he will give an immediate assurance that all existing facilities in relation to housing, etc., enjoyed by the tenants will remain as heretofore.

No decision has yet been taken in regard to a change in the management of this property. Should any change take place, the position in regard to existing employees and tenants will be very carefully considered.
