Vol. 205 No. 11

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway GPO Cubicles.

20.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will take steps to have cubicles erected on the counter at the GPO, Galway, to ensure privacy for the public transacting business there.

The erection of cubicles as suggested at the counter in Galway Post Office is not considered necessary or desirable. A special glazed screening arrangement is provided at the Savings Bank/Money Order counter in order to afford a reasonable measure of privacy. The question of improving that arrangement is being examined.

The Minister says he will examine it and, at the same time, he says there is sufficient privacy.

The Deputy is making a statement.

We are having the matter examined to see if we can improve on the present position, even though the privacy accorded is regarded as sufficient.

I appreciate that.
