Vol. 205 No. 12

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - Cost of Increased Pay for Public Servants.

29.

asked the Minister for Finance the total cost to the State of paying public servants, including members of the Defence Forces and Gardaí, increased emoluments to compensate them for a rise in the cost of living by (a) 5 per cent and (b) 10 per cent.

The estimated annual cost, in round figures, to the State of increasing the emoluments of persons remunerated in whole or in part out of the Exchequer (a) by 5 per cent is £3 million and (b) by 10 per cent is £6 million.

Could the Minister say if national teachers are included in that?
