Vol. 206 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kilcrohane (Cork) Experimental Pilot Schemes.

9.

asked the Minister for Agriculture when the experimental pilot schemes sponsored by his Department will commence in the Muintir Mara area of Kilcrohane, County Cork; and what is the nature and extent of the developments.

I do not know to what particular schemes the Deputy's question relates. Last year my Department, in conjunction with the Cork County Committee of Agriculture, arranged for a small number of trial plots to be used for flower and fruit production at West Cork centres, one of the plots being at Kilcrohane. No extension of these plots has been contemplated but this year the West Cork Development Team are co-operating with a local voluntary effort in the growing of daffodils in the Kilcrohane area. The question of extending this in Muintir Mara area would likewise primarily depend on local effort.
