Vol. 206 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Glengarriff (Cork) Road Programme.

15.

asked the Minister for Local Government if, in view of tourist development and the proposed Bord Fáilte grant for development at Glengarriff, County Cork, he will expedite the road programme there.

Cork County Council, as road authority, is the body primarily responsible for undertaking road improvements in their area. I understand that a scheme for the improvement of the main road through Glengarriff is under active consideration by the Council in consultation with Bord Fáilte, and that, subject to the acquisition of the necessary property, the section between Glengarriff and Pierhead is due to be dealt with by the council in the current year under Road Fund Grant, with the aid of a contribution from Bord Fáilte. Details of the scheme have not yet been submitted to my Department for formal approval.
