Vol. 206 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ballintogher (Sligo) School.

45.

asked the Minister for Education whether any steps have been taken to carry out repairs to the old school, or to make new temporary accommodation available, pending the erection of a new school building in Ballintogher, County Sligo.

Arrangements have been made by the Commissioners of Public works to have works carried out to Ballintogher school to render it serviceable pending the erection of the new school.

As stated in my reply to the question tabled by the Deputy on 14th November, 1963, the Department had sketch plans prepared for the erection of the new school but the proposed site was withdrawn owing, it is understood, to local difficulties.

The new site offered will be inspected this week and, if found suitable, fresh sketch plans will be prepared by the Commissioners immediately.

I have arranged that priority will at all stages be given to the arrangements in connection with the erection of the new school.

I want to thank the Minister for his speedy action in this matter. I should like him to assure me that there will not be any undue delay in the erection of this school.

I have given that assurance to the Deputy.
