The inquiries into retail prices, made by the Central Statistics Office for the purpose of compiling the Consumer Price Index Number, are carried out at quarterly intervals. The two latest of these related to mid-August and mid-November, 1963. The data from the mid-August inquiry, including the national average retail prices for foodstuffs, were published in the September, 1963, issue of the Irish Trade Journal and Statistical Bulletin, pages 144-5. Those from the mid-November inquiry are at present being compiled and will not be available for some weeks.
