Vol. 208 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers - Kildare Telephone Applications.

63.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs how many applications for telephones in the Kildare constituency are outstanding for (1) six months (2) one year (3) eighteen months and (4) two years and over.

The information required is as follows:——

(1) 183

(2) 91

(3) 58

(4) 39.

Can the Minister give any indication as to when the applications outstanding for over two years will receive attention?

The total number of waiting applicants is 278, including 95 which are outstanding for less than six months. Some 32 of the 278 are in hands and will be cleared in the next two months. All the deferred applicants are non-priority cases. Those outstanding are long-line cases involving abnormal construction work. I cannot tell the Deputy how long it will take to have the ones at No. 4 cleared.
