Vol. 208 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Council of Europe Recommendation.

22.

asked the Minister for External Affairs whether, following a reply of 16th July, 1963, he is now able to state the attitude of the Government with regard to Recommendation 366 on the implementation of a pilot project for the preservation and development of a historic quarter of Venice, which was adopted by the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe on 10th May, 1963.

The financial implications of this project have been examined by the Committee of Ministers who take the view that it would be better to consider Recommendation 366 in the context of Recommendation 365 which, as the Deputy is aware, relates to the general problem of the preservation and development of ancient buildings and historic or artistic sites. The Government share this view.
