andMr. A. Barry asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the total tonnage of goods shipped from and to this country through the port of Cork during the last three years.

andMr. A. Barry asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the total tonnage of goods shipped from and to cross-Channel ports through the port of Cork during the years 1961, 1962 and 1963.

With your permission, Sir, I propose to take Questions Nos. 3 and 4 together and to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the total gross tonnage of goods imported and exported through the port of Cork in each of the years 1961, 1962 and 1963 as recorded by the Cork Harbour Commissioners. The figures include coastal trade. Separate particulars for the tonnage shipped to and from cross-Channel ports or to and from other ports outside the State are not available.

Following is the statement:—

TOTAL gross tonnage of goods (excluding livestock) imported and exported through the port of Cork* in the years 1961-63; coastal trade is included.

andMr. A. Barry asked the Taoiseach if he will give details of the shipments of butter through the port of Cork for the years 1961, 1962 and 1963.

The total gross tonnage of butter shipped from the port of Cork as recorded by the Cork Harbour Commissioners was 2,516 tons in 1961, 3,066 tons in 1962 and 1,754 tons in 1963. These figures include the weight of containers and packing.
