Vol. 208 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Kerry Radio Reception.

27.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he is aware that radio reception in the West Kerry peninsula is very bad; and that there have been many complaints about it by residents in this district; and what steps will be taken to improve radio reception in the area.

I am aware that reception of radio programmes is unsatisfactory in a number of areas including West Kerry. As I said in answer to a question on April 8th, financial provision has been made in the Broadcasting Authority (Amendment) Act, 1964, for the establishment of a national VHF service which should greatly improve reception of the Radio Éireann sound programmes in all areas where reception is at present unsatisfactory.
