Vol. 208 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Clare River.

7.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware of the flooding caused by the blockage of a bridge on the Claureen River, at Claureen, Ennis, County Clare, and of the considerable damage being done to the farmers in that area thereby; and if he will consider having arterial drainage work carried out on this river with a view to remedying the position.

Works on the Claureen river could be undertaken only as part of a comprehensive scheme for the Fergus catchment in which it is situated. The Fergus is included in the priority list of major catchments but it will be some years before it can be reached in the arterial drainage programme.
