Vol. 208 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Schedule E Income Tax.

1.

asked the Minister for Finance the sources from which Schedule E income tax is collected, other than that collected under PAYE.

Apart from emoluments coming within Pay As You Earn, the main sources of Schedule E Income Tax are the incomes of persons assessed departmentally such as civil servants, gardaí and national teachers and of persons who are dealt with by direct assessment usually because their remuneration is paid from outside the State and is, therefore, outside the scope of Pay As You Earn.
