asked the Minister for Local Government the total indebtedness of each local authority in the State, and the total indebtedness of all local authorities.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

1. The above figures are provisional. Actual figures for the year ended 31st March, 1964, will not be available for some time.

2. Figures of the indebtedness of county committees of agriculture; vocational education committees and harbour authorities are not available in the Department.

3. The figures in respect of county borough corporations and borough and urban district councils include amounts in sinking funds (£2,509,290 and £204,227 respectively).

4. The figures in respect of town commissioners do not include amounts raised on their behalf by county councils. These amounts are included as indebtedness of county councils.
