Vol. 209 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Traffic Arrangements.

28.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will impress on Dublin Corporation and the Garda authorities the immediate need of providing controlled pedestrian crossings at the Ballast Office, Westmoreland Street and at D'Olier Street, Dublin.

29.

Mr. Belton

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that traffic on the north side of the Liffey, which is one way and becomes two-way at Capel Street, Dublin is not sufficiently signposted where the change occurs; and, if so, what steps it is proposed to take to remedy the situation.

30.

Mr. Belton

asked the Minister for Local Government when the traffic lights at Amiens Street, Dublin will be simplified as there is now no traffic coming out of Talbot Street and the lights still work as if there were, thus causing a delay on the present free run of traffic from the Butt Bridge area.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 28, 29 and 30 together.

I am informed that the traffic lights at Amiens Street are being changed and that appropriate traffic signs are being erected at Capel Street. I am sending a copy of the other question to the Dublin Corporation and the Commissioner of the Garda Síochána who, I understand, have been considering certain measures to facilitate pedestrian movement.
