Vol. 209 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Commission Employment.

46.

asked the Minister for Lands whether registered unemployed persons are given any priority when persons are being taken into employment by the Land Commission.

Yes; priority is given by the Land Commission to registered unemployed persons in recruiting workers, except where the cost of the works is repayable by way of additional annuities on the lands being improved. In such cases priority is given to the tenants or sons of tenants whose holdings are made subject to these additional annuities or whose lands benefit from the work.
