Vol. 209 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Petrol for Tractors and Fishing Boats.

9.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, in the case where a farmer lives at some distance from all or part of his farm land and uses his tractor to travel to and from his land, he is allowed petrol at the reduced rate for the use of his tractor; and, if not, if he will take steps to allow petrol at the reduced rate for such use.

10.

asked the Minister for Finance if, in view of the fact that petrol at a reduced rate of taxation is allowed to farmers for use in agricultural tractors, he will now take steps to allow petrol at a similar reduced rate of tax to fishermen using boats with petrol-burning engines.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 9 and 10 together.

No reduction or repayment of duty is allowed on petrol used in agricultural tractors. I am not prepared to introduce concessions for farmers or fishermen on the lines suggested by the Deputy.
