Vol. 209 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - ESB Advertising Hoardings.

54.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware of the failure of the Electricity Supply Board to comply with their recently given assurance to the Dublin Corporation to remove from lamp standards and electricity cable poles in Dublin streets advertising hoardings erected by them; and that one of these hoardings on a pole at Lower Kimmage Road is in a condition of dangerous disintegration and liable to cause injury to persons and property; and if he will ensure that all such hoardings are removed without further delay.

I understand that the Dublin Corporation is pursuing this matter with the Electricity Supply Board.

Mr. Ryan

There is hourly danger at present that persons or property will be seriously damaged because of derelict ESB boards at Lower Kimmage Road. Having regard to this and to the fact that it will be little comfort to anybody who is injured to know that the Minister, the Board and the Corporation are considering the matter, should the Minister not take some drastic and immediate action to remove this dangerous signboard at the junction of Sundrive Road and Lower Kimmage Road?

This is a matter for the Corporation——

Mr. Ryan

——and for whoever is hit by the board.

I have communicated with Dublin Corporation and the ESB and, so far as I know, contact on the matter has been arranged between those two bodies. I understand the matter will be attended to.

Mr. Ryan

The signboard was still there this morning, unfortunately.
