Vol. 209 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Drainage of Tipperary River.

13.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is now in a position to say when drainage work will be carried out on the Ballyfinboy River on the border of Tipperary and Offaly, which is of great concern to the land owners in both counties whose lands are subject to serious flooding from this river; if he will now cause special action to be taken in this matter; and if he will ensure that it will be given priority in view of the special circumstances of the case.

I am not in a position to say when the Ballyfinboy catchment will be considered for a scheme under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945. Every effort will be made to deal with it as soon as possible in the arterial drainage programme but owing to the extent of existing commitments and the many other drainage problems throughout the country it would not be possible to give it special priority.
