Vol. 209 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clontarf Estate Housing Lands.

45.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he has been requested to receive a deputation from Clontarf Castle Estate Residents Association regarding an appeal relating to building plans for the Estate; if it is intended to accede to this request; and, if not, why.

I received a request for the reception of a deputation from the Clontarf Castle Estate Residents Association and I replied that it was open to them to submit in writing any further observations which they might wish to make in addition to the written representations already made. It was pointed out that full consideration would be given to any submissions made by them in connection with the appeal. This is the normal procedure adopted in dealing with town planning appeals.

In view of the fact that written representations have already been received and that this matter has been considered in the Department on more than one occasion, would the Minister now reconsider the matter and extend to these people the common courtesy of hearing their case?

Perhaps the fact that it has been dealt with on a few occasions already might be regarded as one more reason why the alleged courtesy need not necessarily be granted on this occasion.

46.

asked the Minister for Local Government what decision, if any, has been reached on the appeal made to him against a Dublin Corporation decision not to permit further house building at Clontarf Estate, Dublin.

The town planning appeal referred to by the Deputy is still under consideration in my Department. It is not possible at this stage to indicate when a decision will be reached.

Would the Minister say if he will reverse his earlier decision?

If I could say that, the decision would have been made before now.

I hope the Minister will stick to his guns.

The Minister usually does.
