Vol. 209 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Export of Bulbs and Onion Seed.

26.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he agrees that, because of the absence of eel-worm in this country, there is a great potential for the production here of clean bulbs and onion sets for seed for export; and what he has done, and intends to do, to encourage this production.

It is true that we have a large measure of freedom from eelworm and this must be attributed to the vigilance of my Department. If at any time proposals are made to me for the production of bulbs and onion sets for export, my Department will of course do everything practicable to encourage and facilitate such a development.
